Project:

Assessment of Adsorption Capacity of Virgin GAC for Jet Fuel

Client:

Anglian Water

When:

July - Oct ‘07

The presence of jet fuel in the environment surrounding a groundwater WTW posed a significant risk. Water samples analysed from the aquifer approximately 350m from the WTW showed that benzene and TPH (Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons) were present in significant concentrations.

WatStech Ltd. have assessed the adsorptive capacity of ethylbenzene, which is part of the BTEX (Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Xylene) component of jet fuel onto virgin Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) using batch isotherm tests.
